Sara Rajaei is an Iranian-Dutch video artist and filmmaker based in the Netherlands.

Her work delves into the notion of time, examining the absence of imagery, the psychology of memory, oral history, narrative techniques, and the interplay of physical and psychological space.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Art The Hague in 2002, Rajaei attended a two-year residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten Amsterdam.

In 2009, she was awarded Prix de Rome basic prize.

Her work has been exhibited and screened at various art venues and festivals worldwide, including de Appel Arts Center, Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin, Hong Kong International Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Art Brussels, Kunsthall 3.14 Bergen, World Museum Amsterdam, and many more.

Her short film City of Poets premiered at Berlinale Shorts 2024, screened in various festivals worldwide, and won numerous awards including the European Short Film- Prix Vimeo at the European Film Awards 2026, the Gouden Kalf for best short documentary at the Netherlands film festival, Fidan’s best Iranian short film of the year, Best Short Documentary Film at Sole Luna Doc Film Festival, Silver Lynx Award for Best Short Documentary Film at Fest-New Directors New Films Festival, and the International Fugas award at Documenta Madrid all in 2024.
